I'm celebrating a special occasion, can I hire the venue?

Yes, we have several areas that you are able to hire in the venue. Please use the form on our help centre for more information.

Why is there two show at the same time some nights?

We have two rooms in our Hardman Street Venue, Our main room is in the basement, and we have recently opened a second room on the ground floor called the Studio room. Some nights we have tour shows/external events running.  During busy periods and many weekends we have the same events on, often with a dfifferent line up of acts.  Please be sure to check the show descrition/title to make sure you are booking the correct show.

What happens if an act that is advertised changes?
From time to time we have to replace acts for various reasons. If this happens we will always replace with a like for like act that we're sure will do a fantastic job. In this instance our normal booking change policy applies.

Do you offer group discount?
No, we offer very competitively priced tickets so are already great value. Our shows also get very busy so we feel its unfair to the smaller groups to offer a discount to any other audience member. We do however offer free entry if it is your birthday.

I have a complaint, what next?
If you have a complaint about something that is disrupting your experience, please query this with the staff on the night. We will do all we can to quickly rectify this for you.

If you would like to make a formal complaint after the event, or wish to send us some feedback, we welcome you to do so. Please contact us on through the form on our help centre.

We respond in every instance in due course, once the matter has been investigated.

Do you have security?
Yes, our shows will have security staff in attendance who may perform bag searches or ask for ID upon entry to the comedy club. Please do not feel offended by this as it is just to ensure that we provide a safe environment for everybody in attendance.

I have a gift voucher. How do I redeem it?

Add your tickets as normal on our website and enter your gift voucher when you see the box for discount code/gift voucher at the top of the page on checkout.

Gift Vouchers can be used againts any online product or event at Hot Water Comedy Club and have no expiry.

Gift vouchers are sent through the post and have a unique code on that can be used when redeeming online through our normal checkout when booking tickets.

Any Gift Vouchers being used AFTER 4th May 2022 will have any remaining balance left saved onto their online account to use for any future bookings made under their account only. If you have used a credit note before this date, any credit balance remaining will be lost and will not be valid against any future purchases. Gift cards cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash.

Do you have a smoking area?
Our smoking area for both Liverpool venues is on the street outside the venue. Please refrain for smoking directly outside the front entrance to avoid blocking the route for other customers.

Do you have an age restriction for your shows?
Our Hardman Street venue allows 16+ year olds in for all shows ending before 10pm. They would need a full payng 18+ person as part of their booking. All later finish time shows are strictly 18+ due to our licence. For more information visit our venues page. If you are lucky enough to look under 25 then please bring valid ID as this may be required to gain entry for our over 18 shows.

What disabled facilities do you have?
Our Hardman Street venue unfortunately doesn't have any disabled access. For further information please visit our venues page.

Can I heckle or talk during the show?
No, heckling and talking amongst your group while the comedians are on stage is not part of a comedy night. This also ruins the show for nearby audience members. We kindly ask that if you plan to heckle or talk whilst the acts are on stage that you do this at another comedy club. Anybody repeatedly talking or heckling during any show will be asked to leave without refund.

Can I bring my large group/hen/stag to the comedy club?
Yes, comedy is a fantastic place to bring a larger group but is only available for our Friday and Saturday night shows. We would kindly ask that larger groups take note of all the normal show rules like no heckling/talking whilst acts are on stage etc. We dont allow fancy dress inside the performance room. You will be refused entry on the night if you turn up in fancy dress so please do not be offended.

Please note that most of our midweek shows do not allow large groups at all. This is because of the type of show which may vary from new acts or new material which is not suitable for large groups. Please check the individual events for more information.

We have booked as part of a large group, will we be sat together?
Yes, as long as you've booked under the one booking name or have let us know in advance which bookings are to be joined together then you'll be sat together. Groups that have booked individually and not notified us that it is one large group may be sat in separate parts of the theatre as all seating allocation is done before anybody arrives. If you are part of a group that arrives after the show start time then you may not be sat together.

Will I be picked on if I sit near the front?
No, friendly banter may be part of the night so you may be spoken to at some point during the show but we do not book any acts who would specifically pick on any audience member.

Where is the nearest parking space, bus station or train station?
There is pay and display parking on the main road and surrounding roads, please ensure you check the signage as some spaces are taxi ranks. As we are based in the city centre any main multi storey car park would be a short 5/10 minute walk, the best way to check would be google maps for direction and distance.

The most local train stations are either Central Station or Lime Street, both are aprox 10 minutes walk to our Hardman Street venue.

I ended up working late and missed last nights show, can i get a refund?
Unfortunately not, your seat would've been waiting for you right up until the show started meaning we could not sell it on to somebody else.

What time do the shows finish?
Please check the event you're attending for all show start and finish times

Is there a booking fee?
Yes, we charge booking fees to cover the cost of us completing the transaction which includes payment provider fees and admin fees.

How is the show laid out?
The majority of our shows have theatre style seating. All seating is unreserved as you'll be seated on the night.

Do you sell gift vouchers?
Yes, you can buy gift vouchers for any of our shows here. All of our gift vouchers have no expiry and can be used to purchase anything on our website only.

Where is the bar area & can we take food/drinks into the main performance room?
The bar area in all of our venues is a separate space than the main theatre where our performances take place. Drinks can be taken inside the performance room for all shows. Bar snacks are also available at the bar.

Do you offer concession tickets and what does it cover?
We offer concession tickets for most of our shows.

Senior Citizens (60 and over), Students(library card accepted), NHS Staff, Teachers, Armed Forces, Services (Police, Fire & Ambulance), Registered Disabled (with free entry for one carer) all qualify for our concession discount.

If purchasing a concession priced ticket(s) please ensure that the person the ticket(s) is intended for meets the correct criteria and brings proof of eligibility to show at the booking desk on arrival. You will need a separate proof of concession for each individual concession ticket.

If a concession ticket is purchased and no ID shown on arrival then you will be asked to pay the difference to make your ticket a normal priced one.

Is there a dress code?
We ask that all customers be dressed, just wear whatever makes you comfortable , but we do ask that anything that may obstruct the view of another person in the audience not be worn. Fancy dress is also not allowed in the performance room. Smart shorts are allowed but no sportswear.

What is the latest we can arrive?
Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the scheduled show start time. This will leave time for you to get drinks at the bar and take your seats before the show starts. We will do our best to seat latecomers but this may be at the next interval to avoid any disruption to the show. If you arrive after the show starts your tickets may be sold on to walk ups without refund.   Free entry tickets are at a first serve basis from doors opening.
